This Summer I was granted temporary permission to set up my easel at the Dukes Farms Nature Preserve located in the Hillsborough Township of New Jersey. Starting off my plein-air studies on the grounds I chose the area known as The Hay Barn. It housed, as you may have guessed, hay for the livestock of the farm. However in 1915 there was a fire that gutted the structure and only left the stone walls. Doris Duke then populated the area with marble sculptures to transform the space into a gallery.
